The Gift of "Why"

Recently, I saw movie called “The Ultimate Gift” that I had never heard of before. Lynn and I just happened to catch the trailer at the beginning of another film we were watching and something about it captured my attention. It wasn’t a big box office smash. It didn’t boast a major star-studded cast, although James Garner and Brian Dennehy did have short, but significant roles.

There was something about the film that was absolutely captivating to me, though. The film inspired me. Everything about it touched me on a deep level. It was about a young man who had grown up in an incredibly (and terribly) rich family. The massive wealth had been created by his grandfather, a good man who had built up his billions from nothing. The sons and daughters of this grand patriarch had all the trappings of a super-wealthy lifestyle and had become spoiled by it, as did our hero, the grandson.

The movie was about the grandson’s journey from being a spoiled, pompous, angry brat to finding out his true purpose, all because of this “Ultimate Gift” given to him by his grandfather; a gift which was NOT the money for which all the characters had so desperately clamored.

The film, so appropriately titled, was about, quite literally “The Ultimate Gift.” And that gift is discovering and living your “why.”

What is a “why,” you may ask. Your “why” is your purpose for being here. It is the dynamic expression of the higher power living out its form through you. It is both your passion and your mission. When you are tapped into your “why” you don’t need motivation from outside sources. You already know what you are supposed to do, and you are doing it. Even when you’re not actually actively “doing” it, you’re still doing it in one form or another. You are thinking about it; you are planning things around it; you are being it and living it. It is a part of you that you from which you cannot (nor would you ever want to) escape. Your why is truly the force that drives you from the inside outward.

I have come to the conclusion that the reason so many people have a sense of being lost in our society is either because they have never discovered their “why” or their “why” has been doubted, programmed, kicked and distracted out of them. So when will “now” be the time to rediscover your true purpose…your “why?”

As I was writing my new book, Seven Days to Success with the Law of Attraction, a couple of weeks ago, something occurred to me, then inspired me, then just started pouring out of me…that is, there is so much more to the Law of Attraction than just “attracting.” It really is about connection and meaning and doing something that matters in our lives. We are driven by making a difference in the world, creating community and the art of being part of something greater than ourselves.

We have the ability to work individually and together to create great things on this planet. We were all given the gift of greatness. It is our birthright; it is our destiny; we not only owe it to ourselves, but also to the world to shine and bring forth our gifts to the world.

So, I would urge you to take a harder look beyond what you may have envisioned for yourself in 2008. I would invite you to look deeply inside yourself for the passion that really drives you. I would strongly support in you in discovering your “why.” Why were you put here on this planet, at this time in human evolution? It is truly an exciting time to live; a time in which we all have a significant role. But we can only serve that role in the world if we allow it and let it be the force the drives us, instead of what others may think, or the media tell us, or… blah, blah, blah, pick your own excuse. That force is not just in a chosen few of us, it is in each of us.

Every day I learn more about my “why.” What inspires me most is helping other people connect with what inspires them. I do that through writing, through music, through teaching seminars, creating products and even more personally, through my one-on-one coaching practice.

Nothing inspires me more than to know that I am a part of creating a shift in someone else. I have come to the conclusion that I was placed here on this planet to help wake people up to their own purpose and to what is going on in the world around us.

So, look inside yourself now. Ask yourself the question, “What is my why?” And then listen closely for the answer. Because when you discover THAT profound truth, and then allow that amazing connection to guide you, things begin to flow gracefully and gratefully through your life, and all the “little stuff” seems to either fall away, or just fall right into place.

Law of Attraction MasterMind Movie

My latest $50,000 Law of Attraction story...

Ok, so using my own system of the Law of Attraction, I've now attracted the perfect girl, a great unfolding of new opportunities, great new inspired products, joint ventures and more, all within the time frame of this year. What's else is happening? I'm so glad you asked, because I have a great story to share with you.

I was talking with my MasterMind partner couple of weeks, and we were discussing whether there was anything missing in what we're doing with the Law of Attraction. While we have both used the LOA to attract money this year (even though relationship, family matters and other things were certainly more "important" LOA successes than the money), I thought to myself...you know, a really cool Law of Attraction money story would be great about now.

So, I decided to do something very specific, to really put my new "Seven Days to Success with Law of Attraction" system to the test. On November 7 (I like to start things on the "7" days) I specifically set out to attract $50,000 on or before I leave for a big week-long business event in Los Angeles called CEO Space. It was an intention to generate $50,000, either through direct revenue or capital raising. But the number was very specific.

To keep myself "accountable" I shared the number with my parents, my girlfriend Lynn and my MasterMind partner, Vernon. Then I took it one step further and shared it with one of my coaching clients, James, on November 9 during lunch. Nothing like putting yourself out there and laying your reputation and your system on the line to really be accountable!

So, here's how the "attraction target" laid out: "I will generate at least $50,000 on or before December 9, 2007 through an avenue that is unusual and will make it clear that the Law of Attraction system is working!"

Putting my Seven Days to Success system into action, I went through the 7-step process to get things moving. Then I let go and started paying very close attention to what came up in the process (part of my system).

Several opportunities arose during the first week, but most were extensions of things already in progress. Of course, I followed the path with those, but was still paying attention for that "unusual" thing that make it very clear. By the way, there is still quite a bit of time left until December 9, let's see what else happens....

On November 16, I received a phone call from a client in another business venture, entirely unrelated to MasterMindMentor.com (in fact, he didn't even know about that part of my world) or anything else that was "on the radar" for this particular "attraction" process. It was after 6 PM on Friday evening and I nearly didn't answer the phone. But I got that "tingle" of something important (follow the trail) and decided to answer.

After our introductory pleasantries, he started out by saying, "Hey, great job on the [name withheld for privacy] project and getting us a nearly 10% return last month." Then went on to ask me what else I was up to lately and how I was doing, etc.

I began to tell him about what I was doing with MasterMindMentor.com and all the interesting opportunities that have arisen since I launched it earlier this year. "This is really my heart-of-hearts project and I know it's going to be successful beyond anything I've ever done," I told him, and continued, "I'm putting together the business plan now and intend to raise some capital when I go to this big event in December."

He then responded very quickly: "I want in!" I hesitated for a moment..."Well, [name withheld for privacy] I'm working on the business plan now and I'll be happy to show it to you when I'm done." He responded with: "No, I don't need to see the business plan. I know you, I trust you and I want in."

Then came the fireworks! My client went on to say: "You don't I don't have a lot of money but I just got some money from an inheritance. I have $50,000. How do you want me to make out the check?" (!!!) Wow, the EXACT amount I put out there, back in record time. At this point, I'm both incredibly grateful (Day 7 of my system) and at the same time thinking that maybe I should have picked a bigger number!

Almost (but not quite) amazed, I responded, "But [name] don't you want to at least work out some terms and see the plan first?" He insisted: "No, I don't need the details, I trust you and just tell me how to make out the check and where to send it."

OK, now it's really a bad idea to try to work against what the Law of Attraction throws right on your doorstep, so I let go of trying to provide more information and then just said "Thank you" and gave him the information. This was NINE DAYS after setting my original intention. I gave myself 31 days to make it happen and it only took nine days! The check arrived Tuesday and is in the bank now!

Always remember that the Law of Attraction is working in your life, whether you are directing it intentionally and consciously or whether you are doing it randomly. Passion and Inspiration

Dear Friends,

When we feel lost or disempowered, it is a certain sign that something important to us is missing in our lives. We feel emptiness and a longing for something more. Something deep in our being calls out to us, sometimes with a whisper and sometimes with a scream. This typically happens whenever we are not being true to ourselves, to our mission, to the purpose of our spirit, or what I call "The Passion" inside us.

We all have it, that one thing, or those few things, that truly inspire us to greatness. When we are engaged in THAT process, we feel balance, peace and harmony. Time seems to stand still and we awaken from the process feeling refreshed, rejuvenated and empowered. For some, The Passion comes from playing music or singing, for others, writing, or cooking, or helping special needs children. Whatever it is, experiencing and acting on "The Passion" in you is vital to your very being, to your physical, emotional and mental balance, to virtually every aspect of your life. You must pursue your passion, with passion.

We all have off days. In fact, I'm kind of having an off week this week...it happens. No matter how much personal development or counseling we may have been through. No matter how much success we may have created in our lives, we can still have a day (or a week) that throws us off our game. The key to overcoming this is to find your passion, get yourself back to center again.

Are you having trouble finding inspiration in your life? Feeling a little off your path or lacking in direction? There are many ways to rekindle that inspiration: get out of your normal routine, take in something of divine beauty, like a sunrise or walk in the forest, pick up your guitar and play for awhile, sing your favorite song (even if it is just in the car on the way home from work), just do something that brings your spirit back into alignment.

When I woke up this morning, after experiencing this “off” week I mentioned, I decided I was going to dedicate today to bringing myself back to who I really am. I do this by searching for something inspiring. Usually, that search is not really even a “conscious” thing. In other words, I’m not really sure what I’m searching for…I just “follow the trail” and stay aware until it becomes obvious that I have found what I need in that moment. The Passion for me is writing, playing music, speaking and doing all I can to inspire others. Today, I just had a feeling that music was going to be involved bringing me back to center. And so it was, but not in the “normal” way for me…

In the end, three out of four of my significant “passions” entered into my return to my Self. First, I discovered inspiration and passion in the process of watching a series of four videos about Paul Potts, who was the winner of the U.K television series “Britain’s Got Talent”...here's the first one:

This is the story of a man who knows his passion, but works (worked – past tense - actually) as a cell phone salesman. His passion is singing opera and while I am not a huge opera fan, the Puccini aria called “Nessun Dorma” is one of the most passionate pieces of music ever written, at least in my opinion.

I've included three more videos below documenting Paul's process and transformation. Watch Paul transforming from a meek and mild cell phone salesman with very little confidence to a world-class opera singer who went on to win this competition. If this doesn’t bring tears to your eyes, you should probably check your pulse. I hope this inspires you as much as it did me.

So, today, thank you all for reading this through. I am grateful for the opportunity to have experienced some of my great passions today, through music, through writing (to you…thank you for being there to give me this vehicle) and through doing my part to inspire others.

How do you do it....???

"How do you do it, Jeff???...I don't know if I can actually accomplish everything I want!"

A few days ago, a potential coaching client was going through a laundry list of things she wanted to accomplish...all during this year, I might add...and she threw that question out to me with such conviction that I had to stop and think for myself...can the average person really learn the MasterMind Life Design process? The Law of Attraction...Keyword: ACTION!

Greetings MasterMinds!

The Law of Attraction has practically become a household word nowadays, hasn't it? The Secret, The Science of Getting Rich, Pass It On and the list goes on and goes. Oh, and there is so much more coming down the line. Can't you just feel it? We have reached that time in human evolution that the collective consciousness is shifting and people are coming to the realization that they do in fact have some control over what happens in their lives.

Life isn't just some random series of events. Whether we choose to do it consciously or just let our thoughts drift from one thing to the next, the fact remains that we are creating our own reality as we go. And since that is the case, doesn't it make sense to create our lives in the most conscious and intentional way possible?

So, for those of us who have studied "prosperity consciousness" for long periods of time and still come out wondering why things are not quite lining up as we intended, perhaps one little missing key to this magical formula is going to help move that process along.

When I first started this journey toward creating my dream life about 30 years ago, after reading Napoleon Hill's classic Think and Grow Rich as a junior in high school, I have absorbed everything I could get my hands on with regard to the fine art of creating wealth, prosperity and the perfect dream life. I still do it. Okay, I admit it, my name is Jeff and I'm a personal development addict!

In my 30's, studying the more metaphysical side of prosperity consciousness I learned that I must visualize my dream, or my desired outcome. Meditate, pray and visualize. But even when I would visualize myself into a stupor, I didn't always get what I had intended. Why is that?

Well, part of the problem was that the underlying message in that "new age" version of prosperity consciousness was that visualization was the key to creation. But there was a piece of the puzzle missing.

In fact, it wasn't until I read The Science of Getting Rich a few years ago that the pieces all began to come together. It dawned on me that while I was sitting in meditation, opportunities and the right people to bring them to fruition were calling out to me but I was not practicing the KEY ELEMENT of the Law of Attraction. Silly me, it's even right there in the words…Law of AttrACTION.

Right there is was, in front of my face, ACTION, ACTION, ACTION! Take inspired action. When the opportunities arise, take action. When the people show up, take action. The Universe conspires to bring you what you want but it is up to us to take ACTION and bring it all come together in the form of our desired reality.

Try adding that one little bit to the magic equation that we call The Law of Attraction. Notice when things show up. Be aware and ready. Expect miracles to happen and you will see them. As Mr. Wattles put it in his classic 1910 masterpiece The Science of Getting Rich: "It is a mathematical certainty."

And by the way, don't forget to accept all this in complete Gratitude…but more on that later…

I'm so glad to have you stop by. I'm very excited to be able to write in an open forum like this and hope to offer everyone something worthwhile and entertaining to read on a regular basis.

I've been blogging on MySpace and it's been working very well. Now, I'm kickin' it up a notch and joining the big bloggers world here at Blogger.com.

I'll be writing about anything my consciousness decides to pour out but my primary focus is going to be the MasterMind process, ala Napoleon Hill's Think and Grow Rich, as well as expounding on The Science of Getting Rich and the Law of Attraction.
